Maxus Nepal Provides Rs. 80 Lakh in Relief Support to Disaster-Affected Communities

Maxus Nepal, with support from SAIC Maxus China and coordination with Himalaya Organization, has provided relief assistance worth approximately Rs. 80 lakh to communities affected by the recent disaster in Nepal.

The support includes a Rs. 50 lakh contribution to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, with the cheque handed over to the Finance Minister earlier this week. A further Rs. 30 lakh worth of assistance was provided directly to affected communities along the Trishuli River.

The direct relief support included essential materials for around 400 people, covering mattresses, pillows, bed sheets, medicines, basic healthcare supplies, food items, vegetables, cooking utensils, clothing and other necessities for families staying in temporary shelters.

The initiative also included the installation of solar-powered Ultra-Filtration water treatment systems at two temporary holding centres in Nuwakot.

One system has been installed at Shree Bhairam Secondary School in Trishuli, where around 300 families are currently taking temporary shelter, while another has been installed at Trishuli Primary School in Bidur Municipality, where around 200 families are staying.

Each system can purify approximately 1,000 litres of water per hour, providing access to treated drinking water during the temporary shelter period. The systems are also intended to remain in use after the shelters are cleared, with the schools and their communities able to benefit from them once regular academic activities resume.

The relief distribution and water-treatment installations were carried out with the involvement of Himalaya Organization Chairman Dhruba Thapa, Managing Director Milan Thapa and employees of the organization, along with Lions International District 325 J Nepal Chief Governor Ram Raja Thapa and other district officials.

Maxus Nepal said the initiative forms part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, combining immediate relief assistance with infrastructure intended to provide longer-term benefits to the affected communities.
